How To Protect USB Pendrive With Password
Sometimes we need to keep our information secret and protect our data from misuse by others and remain safe. In this article I explain the methods to protect USB Pendrive with password.
Method :- BitLock Encryption
Bitlock Encryption is the manual method provided by Windows to protect our USB drive. Each time you insert the pendrive you have to enter the bit lock to open the pendrive and access the files.
To turn on BitLocker Drive Encryption
- Click Start
- Click Control Panel
- Click Security,
and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
If the User Account Control message appears, verify that the proposed action is what you requested, and then click Continue. For more information, see Additional Resources later in this document.
On the BitLocker Drive Encryption page, click Turn On BitLocker on the operating system volume.
If your TPM is not initialized, you will see the Initialize TPM Security Hardware wizard. Follow the directions to initialize the TPM and restart your computer.
On the Save the recovery password page, you will see the following options:
- Save the password on a USB drive.
- Save the password in a folder.
- Print the password.
Use one or more of these options to preserve the recovery password. For each option, select the option and follow the wizard steps to set the location for saving or printing the recovery password.
When you have finished saving the recovery password, click Next.
Steps To Protect USB Pendrive Using BitLock.
Step 1. Insert your USB into Computer.
Step 2. Right click the USB drive you want to Encrypt.
Step 3. Select turn on Bitlock from Menu.
Step 4. Tick the check box in front of “use a password to unlock the drive”.
Step 5. Click on next button after entering a password.
Step 6. Next wizard is to save and print Recovery key in case you forgot your password.
Step 7. click on next button and drive encryption will start.
Step 8. After the encryption is complete click on close button.
