A 16 Year Old Anonymous Hackers
Leader Was Arrested by Italian Police
Italian police arrested a sixteen year old boy from Udine. Police suspected that the boy was leader of an Anonymous campaign named #OpSafePharma.
As the boy is still a minor, Italian police refused to release his name, but revealed that he was called by a nickname Artek in hacking community.
The information on internet about #OpSafePharma is really scarce. Italian authorities released official communique which says that #OpSafePharma was a series of attacks against Italian Ministry of Health for the way they behave on ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) related issues.
Attacks related to #OpSafePharma campaign started on March 16, 2016. Italy’s Postal and Communications Police service say that from the beginning, the National Centre for Crime for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure (CNAIPIC) was able to detect and track all attacks, eventually leading them back to Artek’s home.
The sixteen-year-old, who associated with the Anonymous online hacktivism movement, carried out a series of DDoS attacks against the Ministry of Health, the Higher Institute of Health, and numerous local health authorities. Artek also used SQL injection vulnerabilities in the databases of AIFA (Associazione Italiana Famiglie ADHD / Italian Association of ADHD Families) and the Italian Red Cross branch. He later published data stolen from these databases online.
Italian police executed some search warrants after arresting Artek at his home today. Police seized his computer equipment but the total data in it is encrypted so that even if was caught once, police won’t be able to get data out of his equipment.
